Very soon, on September 22 (Sunday), drivers in the Belarusian capital will be able to use public transport for free.
The head of the Minsk City Committee for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, Valentin Shatravko, reported this.
According to him, drivers will receive this privilege in connection with the campaign “Day without a Car: Belarus for Clean Air”.
On September 22, you will be able to use free travel not only on buses, trolleybuses and trams, but also on the capital's subway.
To do this, you will need to present a driver’s license and a vehicle registration certificate, the Belta agency quotes the official as saying.
He also reported that last year, over 12,000 people took advantage of the right to travel on the metro for free as part of the “Car-Free Day” campaign, and in 2022, more than 15,000.
I am talking about the metro, because it is much easier to count the number of passengers. I think that no fewer citizens took advantage of free travel on public ground transport, - the head of the committee said.
By the way. As part of the "Car-Free Day" they will hold the "To Work by Bicycle" campaign - those who go to work on this two-wheeled vehicle will receive free fruit.
Fruits will be distributed at the entrance to the Central Botanical Garden, next to the Minsk Arena, on Pritytskogo Street (near buildings No. 27-29) and on Dzerzhinsky Avenue (near building No. 13).
