Scientists from the USA analyzed data on divorce of married couples and came to an unexpected conclusion. It turns out that the risk of divorce can be predicted by simple arithmetic calculations.
It is enough to simply calculate the difference in age between the spouses and compare the result with the results of the study.
Research by scientists
According to the conclusions of American scientists, only the age difference matters. Who is older – a man or a woman – does not matter.
In short, the accuracy of the forecast increases with the age difference between the spouses.
Probability of divorce
As practice shows, spouses with an age difference of 20 years or more will divorce with a rate of 95-100%.
The probability that a family union will not withstand the test of strength if one of the spouses is 10 or more years older is significantly lower, but still impressive – almost 39%.
The risk of divorce exists even if the age difference between spouses is 5 to 10 years – 18%, researchers say.
Couples with an age difference of less than 5 years have the lowest chance of breaking up over time – just 3%.
Conclusion
The scientists note that their research is based on statistical data and does not take into account other factors and circumstances that may be important for making a final decision.
