A fraudster posing as a travel agent swindled a resident of Grodno out of more than 9,000 rubles.

The press service of the Internal Affairs Department of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee reported this on Telegram.

How the fraudster operated

In the middle of summer, a 27-year-old resident of Grodno decided to go on holiday abroad.

The girl found a travel agency and contacted a 34-year-old woman from Minsk who introduced herself as an operator.

The conversation took place in Telegram. Having chosen a trip to Dubai, the regional center resident transferred 9,730 rubles.

After the money was transferred, the "operator" stopped communicating. The deceived Grodno resident contacted the police.

The Grodno inter-district department of the Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case of fraud on this matter.

The police are calling on citizens to be extremely careful when making transactions on the Internet.

Be vigilant when you are asked to make an advance payment or pay the full price for a product or service, the Internal Affairs Directorate noted.
