Two Belarusians, residents of the Shchuchin district of the Grodno region, are facing a considerable prison term for their excessive love of Vietnamese piglets.
These citizens stole the pigs, but then secretly returned them back.
As the press service of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee's Internal Affairs Directorate reported on its official Telegram channel, on November 19, a 58-year-old resident of the village of Shlyakhty contacted the police.
He said that under cover of night, someone had damaged the locking device in his outbuilding and stolen two Vietnamese piglets.
At the scene of the incident, law enforcement officers conducted investigative actions and then began operational and investigative activities. The search for the suspect began.
However, a couple of days later, the victim noticed his friend secretly returning the piglets to the yard. The man reported this to the police.
During interrogation, the 29-year-old guy confessed: he stole the piglets together with a 35-year-old friend.
They sold them to the grandmother of one of the defendants, who, however, soon began to doubt that the animals were of legal origin.
She demanded that the pigs be returned to their rightful owner.
A criminal case has been opened against the criminal duo for theft committed by a group of people.
The regional police department noted that the citizens face up to 4 years in prison.
