Fraudsters, under the pretext of earning money on a crypto exchange, lured more than 50,000 rubles from a resident of Olshany.

The press service of the Internal Affairs Department of the Brest Regional Executive Committee reported this on Telegram.

How the scammers operated

A 35-year-old resident of Olshany filed a complaint with the Stolin District Department of Internal Affairs about fraud.

In October 2023, the applicant, wanting to make money on cryptocurrency, found a suitable offer in a Telegram channel and began communicating with the curator.

Following his instructions, the man followed the link, entered his details and transferred the initial contribution of $10,000. The investment immediately brought in a tangible income.

For a year, a resident of Olshany invested money, believing that his income was growing.

When the man wanted to withdraw his profit, problems arose. After persuading him to make a new investment and receiving a refusal, the Olshanets was blocked.

Then the man realized that he had become a victim of fraud. The damage caused exceeded 50,000 rubles.
