There are always gullible people in the world, and all sorts of swindlers profit from them.
One of the latest cases took place in Grodno, where a local resident paid almost 26,500 rubles for a meeting with a foreign “oilman”.
The victim, a 61-year-old woman, contacted the police in early December, reporting that she had become the victim of a fraudster.
It happened on Odnoklassniki
According to information published on the official Telegram channel of the press service of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee Department of Internal Affairs, the lady said that the story began in the summer.
Then she met a person on Odnoklassniki with the nickname Kelvin Nolan.
This man introduced himself as the head of an oil company, in connection with which he declared his wealth and told something about his life.
But at the same time, the “oil magnate” complained that he could not come to his “beloved” due to some serious problems.
She and he communicated on a social network for several months. This was enough for the latter to “instill” passionate feelings in the Belarusian woman.
And then the “oilman” tearfully began asking to lend him money for plane tickets, payment for the paperwork, as well as for the necessary fees and taxes.
The disappearance of the "tycoon"
The man promised to return the entire amount upon arrival in Belarus and to add extra for the young lady’s responsiveness.
In short, the "oligarch" convinced the trusting woman. She transferred him a total of 26,455 rubles.
And this money, by the way, was intended for the treatment of her close relative (part of the amount was taken on credit).
As soon as the Grodno resident spent the last of her money and said that she had no more money, her “lover” stopped communicating.
At that moment, the woman realized that she had fallen for the scammer’s trick.
A criminal case has been opened on the fact of the “oilman’s” actions (large-scale fraud).
