On December 7, in the Slavgorod district of the Mogilev region, a family with a 5-year-old child died in a head-on accident.
The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported this on Telegram.
What happened
The accident occurred at around 12:00 on the 117th kilometer of the P43 highway (Russian border – Krichev – Bobruisk – Ivatsevichi).
According to preliminary information, the driver of a KIA passenger car lost control, skidded, drove into the oncoming lane and crashed into a MAN road train.
As a result of the accident, the family in the car died: a 50-year-old man, his 43-year-old wife and their five-year-old child. The truck driver was hospitalized.
The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on this fact under Part 3 of Article 317 of the Criminal Code (violation of traffic rules, which through negligence resulted in the death of two or more persons).
On the orders of the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ivan Kubrakov, the head of the Main Directorate of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Viktor Rotchenkov, personally went to the scene of the tragedy.
According to him, it has been preliminarily established that the cause of the accident was extreme wear of the rear tires of the passenger car, as well as the winter slipperiness that formed on the roadway.
Rotchenkov noted that the actions of officials responsible for road maintenance will be given a fundamental assessment.
Yesterday alone, 19 of them were already held accountable, said the head of the Main Directorate of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
