A resident of Mogilev forged a disability certificate to earn money by clearing a car at a discount and became a defendant in a criminal case.

The actions of the Mogilev resident were classified under Part 1 of Article 380 of the Criminal Code (forgery of a document).

This was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee for the Mogilev Region.

How a Mogilev resident forged a disability certificate

In July of this year, a 66-year-old resident of Mogilev was offered some extra money by two unknown men.

Assuming that the pensioner had a disability that gave him the right to preferential customs clearance of the car, the men asked him to register a 2019 Mercedes-Benz E220D from Korea worth $18,000 in his name.

The Mogilev resident had a disability group that did not qualify for benefits, but he agreed anyway.

The man deliberately cut off the part of the ID where it said “third,” wrote “second,” and submitted the documents for registration.

The employee who accepted the documents was suspicious of the ID. A request was made to the medical institution that issued the ID, and the fraud was revealed.

A forensic technical examination confirmed that the ID was forged.

During interrogation, the Mogilev resident did not deny the charges. A criminal case was opened against the man under Part 1 of Article 380 of the Criminal Code (forgery of a document).
