A resident of Slonim became a victim of scammers who hacked her aunt’s social network page.

The attackers stole 4,000 rubles from a Slonim resident’s card.

A criminal case has been opened on this fact, the press service of the Internal Affairs Department of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee reported on Telegram.

How the scammers operated

In mid-December, the 52-year-old resident of Slonim received a message from her aunt from Russia on Odnoklassniki.

To receive money, it was necessary to provide the details of a Mir or Visa card.

The Slonim resident believed and carried out all the necessary manipulations.

The fact that the correspondence contained mistakes that were uncharacteristic of her aunt did not alarm the Belarusian woman.

The Slonim resident did not receive a gift from the bank. Instead, 4,000 Belarusian rubles were written off from her account.

The woman realized that she had become a victim of fraud and contacted the police.

The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on this fact regarding the theft of property by modifying computer information.

The Department of Internal Affairs of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee reminds: you should not disclose personal information to third parties via social networks.
