In Bragin, a bank employee saved a woman from transferring a large sum of money to telephone scammers.
The press service of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee reported this on Telegram.
How the scammers operated
A resident of Bragin contacted the bank to transfer a large sum.
Suspecting something was wrong, the bank employee convinced the client not to transfer anything and to contact the police.
It turned out that before going to the bank, the Bragin resident received a call allegedly from Beltelecom.
The caller said that the contract needed to be renewed and asked for personal information.
Then a call came from a "representative of the Department of Financial Investigations." His instructions led the Bragin woman to the bank.
The bank employee received a letter of gratitude from the head of the Bragin District Department of Internal Affairs, Evgeny Andrukhov, for her active civic position.
