Fraudsters, under the pretext of earning money on the stock exchange, lured 40,000 rubles from a resident of Glusk.
The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on this fact regarding fraud on an especially large scale.
This was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee for the Mogilev Region.
How the scammers operated
According to the investigation, in June, a 61-year-old resident of Glusk received a call on a messenger from a girl who offered her earnings on the stock exchange.
Having become interested, the Gluschanka registered on the exchange website and sent $100 to the phone number provided to her.
A consultant was assigned to the woman. Following his instructions, the Glusk resident took out a loan and transferred the money to the specified phone number.
In less than three months, the woman transferred about a million Russian rubles to various phone numbers linked to bank cards.
When the Glusk resident wanted to withdraw her profit, the consultant said that a foreign bank had frozen her account, considering the transactions fraudulent. The woman had to transfer money to "unblock the account."
As a result, the Gluschanka’s husband became alarmed that his wife was transferring large sums of money without earning anything.
The family contacted the police. In total, the scammers swindled about 40,000 rubles from the Gluschanka.
A criminal case has been opened under Part 4 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code (fraud on an especially large scale).
