A Belarusian returned from work with mushrooms and psychotropic pills in Lithuania – how it all ended

At the Benyakoni checkpoint, a 39-year-old citizen of Belarus was detained while returning home from Lithuania.

He was in a neighboring country working, and upon returning home he decided to take some mushrooms and psychotropic pills with him.

The Belarusian was detained while crossing the border through the green corridor, BELTA reports with reference to the State Customs Committee.

A 39-year-old Belarusian, when crossing the customs border at the Benyakoni checkpoint, stated that he did not have any goods that were restricted for movement.

However, when passing through the “green corridor”, a service dog of the Grodno regional customs office responded to the citizen’s luggage.

Next, a search of personal belongings was conducted, during which customs officers discovered prohibited substances.

We are talking about a substance of plant origin that was discovered in vacuum packaging.

The expert determined that these were mushrooms containing a dangerous psychotropic substance – psilocin.

More than 30 tablets were also found, which contained a particularly dangerous psychotropic substance.

At the same time, video materials were discovered and seized, indicating that the man had repeatedly used illegal substances.

A criminal case has been opened. The article provides for imprisonment for up to 10 years.
