Unfortunately, in Belarus there has been an increase in the number of road accidents related to the sudden appearance of wild animals.
On Sunday evening, September 15, another incident of this kind occurred near Vitebsk. Alas, it was fatal – a 12-year-old child died.
The press service of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Vitebsk Region reported this on its official Telegram channel.
According to the data released by the department, the accident took place at approximately half past nine in the evening.
The scene of the incident is the 90th kilometer of the M8 highway (Russian border – Vitebsk – Gomel – Ukrainian border).
There, according to preliminary information, a 44-year-old driver of a Volkswagen Passat hit a moose that suddenly appeared on the road.
As a result of the accident, the man was injured and taken to hospital.
His 12-year-old son, who was riding in the front seat as a passenger, died at the scene from his injuries.
In connection with the incident, the State Traffic Inspectorate once again called on drivers to be extremely careful while driving.
Choosing a safe speed in a forested area, being attentive and careful when driving through dangerous sections will help avoid accidents, the report says.
