Belarusian customs officers have uncovered a criminal scheme for importing vehicles into the Eurasian Economic Union.
The scheme was organized by a Polish citizen; a criminal case has been opened.
This was reported by the press service of the State Customs Committee of Belarus.
What scheme did customs officers uncover?
As a result of a series of special measures, Brest customs officers detained three tractor units under the guise of allegedly being temporarily imported from Poland.
The criminals planned to involve them in illegal economic activity in the Russian Federation.
Thus, in August, a driver from a Polish company imported two DAF trucks through the Kozlovichi checkpoint.
In Kozlovichi, customs officers applied navigation seals to vehicles in order to ensure security and track their route to the designated location.
Subsequently, they were professionally cut off, and the TS “dissolved” in Belarus.
However, customs officers uncovered a criminal scheme. It was organized by a 29-year-old Polish citizen.
The criminal used an angle grinder to remove the seal from yet another DAF truck imported from Poland.
The previously imported trucks were found in Gantsevchi. The vehicles were being prepared for illegal sale – the factory identification numbers were removed by chemical etching of the metal.
The cost of 3 tractors was about 300,000 rubles, the amount of customs duties for them was more than 180,000 rubles.
Brest Customs initiated a criminal case against Polish citizens and other persons who acted in collusion under Part 2 of Article 231 of the Criminal Code. The defendants face up to 6 years of imprisonment.
