Over the course of a week, Belarusian customs officials prevented Polish pears totaling approximately 80 tons from illegally entering Russia.
The press service of the State Customs Committee of Belarus reported this on its official Telegram channel.
According to the agency’s estimates, the total value of the illegally transported goods amounted to 570,000 Belarusian rubles.
It is noted that 4 trucks with pears near the Belarusian-Russian border were stopped by Vitebsk and Gomel customs officers, as well as employees of the Operational Customs during special operations.
The State Customs Committee reported that the pears were transported without the necessary accompanying documents and certificates confirming their safety.
It was established that one of the trucks was driving with Belarusian license plates, which were replaced with Russian ones in Vitebsk.
The documents presented by the driver indicated Orsha as the unloading location, but the truck was moving in a different direction.
The operational customs service began an administrative process, and documents on the facts of the violations committed were also transferred to the Vitebsk State Traffic Inspectorate.
The rest of the carriers will also be held accountable for violating the fruit transportation procedure, the State Customs Committee concluded.
