It recently became known that the Venezuelan prosecutor's office has issued an arrest warrant for Argentine President Javier Miley.

This order also applies to the sister of the Argentine leader, the general secretary of the presidential administration, Karina Miley.

In addition, the arrest of Argentina's Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, has been initiated.

Statement by the Prosecutor General

The decision was made within the framework of a criminal case on the theft of an Emtrasur airline plane, MIA Rossiya Segodnya reports , citing a statement by the Prosecutor General of the Bolivarian Republic, Tarek William Saab.

He announced the appointment of two prosecutors who specialize in the case.

It is they who “conduct the appropriate investigation and issue the warrant.”

Saab said Caracas suspects Miley, his sister and Bulrich of "aggravated theft, money laundering, disabling an aircraft, false imprisonment and unlawful alienation of property."

Argentina's reaction

The Argentine Foreign Ministry responded by condemning the measures taken by the Venezuelan prosecutor's office.

According to Argentine diplomats, the decision to seize the plane was made by judicial authorities, in whose activities the government has no right to interfere.

Let us recall that two years ago, a Boeing 747 belonging to the Venezuelan company Empresa de Transporte Aéreocargo del Sur (Emtrasur) was arrested at the Argentine airport of Ezeiza.

Earlier this year, a local court ordered the aircraft to be handed over to the United States, after which it was delivered to the state of Florida.

According to Venezuelan media, the plane was transported under the guise of a military aircraft, which allowed it to be transported without permission to fly from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The confiscated cargo aircraft was later destroyed.
