A serious emergency occurred in the Polish city of Poznan – two trains caught fire there.

A freight train and a train carrying fans of Warsaw's Lech football club were reportedly on fire.

A total of 834 people were evacuated due to the fire, MIA Rossiya Segodnya reports , citing the Onet portal.

According to local emergency services, the incident took place in the area of the Poznań-Górczyn station.

It is noted that the fire occurred in a carriage with household appliances last Sunday, November 10, at about three o'clock in the afternoon (about five o'clock in the evening Belarusian time).

At that moment, a passenger train with Legia fans was passing the said station.

It is known that they were travelling to their team’s away match in the Polish championship against Lech Poznan.

A freight train caught fire on the adjacent track of the said station.

The driver of the train with football fans decided to stop. The passengers got out of the cars and evacuated.

Police representative Maciej Swiecichowski told the aforementioned Polish portal about this.

It is also reported that the fans were later evacuated by buses. A total of 834 people were evacuated.

Law enforcement officials have a theory: the fire could have started as a result of fans' careless handling of flares.
