Two powerful earthquakes occurred off the coast of Cuba in one day.
The magnitude of the last of them, according to estimates by specialists from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, was 6.8.
Its epicentre was recorded 41 kilometres south of the municipality of Bartolomé Maso (Granma province), home to approximately 53,000 people.
The depth of the source of the latest “earth tremor” is 17 kilometers, writes TASS.
The news agency reports that at this time there have been no reports of damage or casualties.
Also, as far as is known, local authorities have not announced a threat of a possible tsunami.
Before that, another earthquake occurred in approximately the same area – 34 kilometers southeast of the aforementioned municipality.
Its magnitude was recorded at 6.0. The source was located at a depth of 17 kilometers.
As in the last case, there was no information about damage or casualties after the first strike of the elements, and no tsunami threat was announced.
