US President-elect Donald Trump held his first press conference since winning the election in November.

The Republican organized the event at his own residence, Mar-a-Lago, located in the state of Florida.

Among other things, the politician touched on the topic of the Russian-Ukrainian confrontation in his speech.

We will talk. We will communicate with President Putin and Zelensky's representative, with representatives of Ukraine. We need to stop this, MIA "Russia Today" quotes Trump as saying.

According to him, he is doing everything possible to ensure that the Ukrainian conflict ends.

The influential American also reported that Kyiv expressed its readiness to work to achieve a peaceful resolution to the situation.

We are working hard. It is a difficult task, but we have made some progress, - said Donald Trump.

He also said that, in his opinion, the Ukrainian authorities should not have been allowed to fire long-range American missiles at Russian territories.

In connection with the position voiced on this matter, the elected head of state noted that, as soon as he takes office, he may reconsider the corresponding decision of the outgoing White House administration.

Trump has previously said on numerous occasions that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine might not have happened at all if he had ruled the United States, and not Joe Biden.

The politician also stated several times that if he is re-elected as president, he will try to resolve the conflict within 24 hours.
