Recently it became known about a fuel leak on a section of the Druzhba pipeline located near the city of Pniewy (western Poland).
This was reported by the press secretary of the State Fire Service in the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship, Martin Halasz.
According to him, during the incident that occurred on the morning of December 1, there was no threat of fire or explosion.
At present, the cause of the incident has not been established, the TASS agency quotes the press secretary as saying.
It is known that local residents were alarmed by the appearance of a gas smell near one of the petrol stations, as well as near the hotel.
The relevant services were notified of this and an investigation was launched.
While studying the situation, specialists discovered that a substance similar to oil had spilled on a field in the area of the Druzhba pipeline.
We contacted representatives of the pipeline servicing company PERN – its employees turned off one of the pumping substations.
In turn, PERN confirmed the information that the leak occurred from the pipeline.
They also assured that the incident did not affect oil supplies to Germany.
It is stated that pumping at the damaged section was immediately stopped.
Oil supplies continue via the second line, the technical capabilities of which fully cover the volume needs of customers, the company noted.
