As is known, not long ago US President Joe Biden allowed Ukraine to strike Russian territory with American long-range missiles.

But the President's National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, refuses to acknowledge this step as direct US involvement in the conflict.

If the US were to allow the use of any weapons system, including this system (ATACMS – Ed.), this would not mean direct US participation in the war, MIA Rossiya Segodnya quotes Sullivan as saying.

According to a White House spokesman, allowing Ukraine to use American missiles is a continuation of the policy that the United States has followed since the beginning of the conflict.

Reacting to Biden's "go-ahead" for the weapons, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said it marked a new round of tensions.

He also reported that such actions are perceived by Moscow as a fundamentally different situation in terms of US participation in the conflict.
