In the first round of the presidential elections in Romania, the leader is Calin Georgescu, a candidate who advocates an alliance with Russia.
His superiority over his competitors is demonstrated by the figures from the local Central Election Commission, obtained after counting 92% of the ballots at foreign polling stations.
As reported by MIA "Russia Today" with reference to the Central Election Commission data, 43.5% of voters outside Romania supported Georgescu's candidacy.

In second place is the head of the Union for the Salvation of Romania, Elena Lasconi, who takes an anti-Russian position (26.1%).
But the country's Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, with 2.91% of the votes, came in sixth.
Ahead of the head of the government is the speaker of parliament, Nicolae Ciuca, who received 4.6% of the votes (5th place).
In 4th place is the former Deputy Secretary General of NATO and former head of the PSD Mircea Geoana, who received 4.8% of the votes.
Third place goes to the opponent of aid to Ukraine, the head of the Union for the Unification of Romanians, George Simion (12.2%).
The second round of presidential elections in Romania is scheduled for December 8 this year.
Georgescu's position
As for Georgescu, his leadership came as a surprise to many experts, as they had not assessed his chances as high.
It is known that this politician advocates traditional values and an alliance with Russia.
He also states that Bucharest's membership in NATO cannot guarantee Romania's security.
In total, 13 citizens are competing for the country's highest official post.
