Today, December 14, elections for the sixth president of the country began in Georgia.
There is only one candidate for the post.
We are talking about Mikheil Kavelashvili, who was nominated by the ruling party.

TASS reports the start of presidential elections in the Transcaucasian country.
Peculiarities of the current presidential elections in Georgia
The President of Georgia will be elected for the first time at a meeting of the board.
Previously, the head of the Georgian state was elected by direct popular vote.
But this time, only 300 electors will cast their votes: 150 representatives of the country's highest legislative body and 150 representatives of regional authorities.
Another feature of the current presidential elections in Georgia was the participation of only one candidate.
The only candidate for the post of president of the Transcaucasian republic is Mikhail Kavelashvili, a former parliamentarian and former player of the Georgian national football team.
This candidate was nominated by the political force "Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia".
However, the opposition parties did not nominate their representatives for the elections, as they are boycotting the work of Georgia’s highest legislative body.
The results of the presidential elections are to be announced on December 14 at 14:00 local time (in Belarus at this time it will be 13:00).
To win, Kavelashvili needs to get 2/3 of the votes. If this does not happen, then the second round will take place today, where a simple majority of votes will be enough to obtain the winner's status.
