US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has postponed his visit to Israel due to the escalation of the situation on the Israeli-Lebanese border.
This was reported on the social network X by Axios journalist Barak Ravid, citing two Israeli officials.
Why the Pentagon chief postponed his visit to Israel
Austin's visit to Israel was scheduled to take place early next week.
According to Ravid, the reason for the cancellation of the visit was the escalation of the situation on the border between Israel and Lebanon.
The latest escalation of the situation in the Middle East began with the explosions of communication devices in Lebanon on September 17-18.
Lebanese authorities and the Shiite Hezbollah movement blamed Israel for the attacks.
Israel, in turn, announced that it was shifting the “center of gravity” of its military efforts to the border with Lebanon.
