More than half (59%) of striking Boeing workers voted to approve a new wage agreement with their employer.

Thus, their strike ended. It lasted 7 weeks and led to the suspension of production of many aircraft.

TASS reports on the event with reference to the Reuters agency.

What did the parties come to?

The latter reported that the new agreement includes a 38% pay raise for Boeing employees over the next four years.

In turn, striking workers are ordered to return to work by November 12.

At the same time, some of them will need to undergo professional retraining due to a fairly long absence from work.

Experts suggest that the company will not be able to fully restore production of airliners and emerge from the financial crisis anytime soon – it will take weeks.

They explain this by the fact that the production rates of 737 MAX aircraft will be significantly lower for some time than the planned level of 38 units per month before the strike.

Reuters calculated that by the end of the new 4-year contract, the average annual salary of the corporation's employees will be $119,300 (previously - $75,600).

Biden's address

Until now, workers have been offered two options regarding salary increases, but both have been rejected.

Initially, the strikers demanded a 40% increase in wages over three years.

In connection with the compromise reached, Joe Biden congratulated the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, which represents Boeing employees, and the company itself.

The head of state drew attention to the role of Acting US Secretary of Labor Julie Su and Director of the National Economic Council Lael Brainard in resolving the conflict.

As reported by American media, 33,000 workers at Boeing factories began a strike on September 13 of this year.
