More than two dozen international flights to the island of Bali, which is popular with many tourists, including from Russia and Belarus, have been cancelled.
Flights from the local airport have also been cancelled. The reason for this is the eruption of the Levotobi volcano.
TASS reports this, noting that the national agency Antara reported the event with reference to the general director of the Ngurah Rai airport.
In particular, he announced the cancellation of 12 domestic and 22 international flights.
According to the top manager, the airport's airspace has not yet been damaged by volcanic ash.
Let us add that the eruption of the mentioned volcano began on November 4. The ash it emitted rose to a height of 2,000 meters.
As a result of the volcano's rage, fires broke out in nearby settlements.
Local authorities evacuated over 10,000 people. The disaster resulted in the death of 9 citizens, and another 63 people were injured.
Due to the volcanic eruption, a decision was made to temporarily close four airports.
The Russian Embassy in Indonesia has appealed to its compatriots in Bali to avoid the area of the volcanic eruption.
