An innocent German who spent 13 years in prison and was accused of a murder that turned out not to have happened has come forward with a demand.
Manfred Genditzky has appealed to the authorities of the state of Bavaria – he wants to receive repeated compensation for moral damages.
As reported by MIA "Russia Today" with reference to Spiegel magazine, the German is demanding that he be paid at least 750,000 euros.
The plaintiff is seeking compensation for moral damages in the amount of at least 750,000 euros, the German publication quotes a representative of the Munich District Court.
According to the local prosecutor's office, Genditsky was previously paid more than 368,000 euros - 75 euros for each of the 4,916 days in prison.
However, he and his partner stated that this amount does not cover all the damage, so the man will seek additional compensation.
It is known that the citizen had been fighting for many years to have his case reviewed. At the same time, not only the defense, but also the prosecutor's office demanded Genditsky's acquittal.
Doubts arose that the accused had committed murder. Moreover, it was stated that, in all likelihood, no crime had been committed at all.
Later, experts proved that the woman died as a result of an accident.
In 2010, the Munich District Court sentenced Genditsky, the former manager of the house where the deceased lived, to life imprisonment.
The jury found the man guilty of allegedly hitting an elderly woman in her apartment after an argument and then drowning her in the bathtub.
