Türkiye has severed relations with Israel and has no intention of restoring them.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated this on November 13, answering journalists’ questions after his visits to Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia.
The statement by the head of the Turkish state is reported by the TRT Haber television channel.
What Erdogan Said About Breaking Ties With Israel
The Turkish leader stated that Turkey currently has no relations with Israel.
We, as a state and government of Turkey, have severed relations with Israel, Erdogan said.
The head of the Turkish state clarified that Ankara does not intend to restore these relations.
We have stopped trade and relations with Israel, period, ” the Turkish president emphasized.
Erdogan assured that Türkiye will continue to support Palestine in its just cause.
We will stand on the side of the oppressed until the end, he added.
Türkiye has condemned Israel's actions since the start of the Israeli army's operation in the Gaza Strip last October, calling for a ceasefire.
In May of this year, the Turkish Ministry of Trade announced a complete halt to trade with Israel. Before that, Türkiye restricted the import of 54 subgroups of goods.
