The leap year 2024 will be marked in the history of Russia by another rare event – the fall of an asteroid.
Experts predicted that this would happen today and named not only the place, but also the time of the space wanderer's entry into airspace.
As Komsomolskaya Pravda reports, the space object is already approaching Earth and will enter airspace on December 3 at 19:17 Moscow time.
As for the crash site, according to calculations, it will be in the Yakutia region.
Until recently, it was believed that the object would burn up completely in the air.
But the situation is changing and according to new data, pieces of the asteroid will still reach the surface of the Earth.

In the region, this rare phenomenon can be observed on the western horizon.
Given that the asteroid is approximately one meter in size, a fireball should appear in the sky over Russia, moving from east to west.
The luckiest ones will be the residents of the villages of Olyokminsk and Lensk. The asteroid should fall somewhere between them.
It is also reported that the object was discovered today at 9 am by specialists from the Kitt Peak Observatory in the USA.
