Politico: 7 NATO countries oppose Ukraine's accession to the alliance

Seven member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance have come out against Ukraine’s entry into the military-political bloc.

We are talking about Belgium, Hungary, Germany, Spain, Slovakia, Slovenia and the USA.

As TASS reports, a corresponding publication appeared in the foreign edition of Politico.

Foreign journalists cite Western officials and diplomats.

Why 7 NATO countries are against Ukraine's accession

It is noted that several countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization are not ready to fulfill the demand of Volodymyr Zelensky, who wants Kyiv to receive an immediate invitation to NATO.

The fact is that these states are afraid of a direct conflict with the Russian Federation.

It is emphasized that the United States and Germany are the first to show “slowness” in inviting Ukraine to the military-political bloc.

According to the authors of the publication in Politico, Belgium, Spain and Slovenia are “hiding” behind these two countries.

Hungary and Slovakia are also against Ukraine joining the North Atlantic Alliance.

There is also such a version about the attitude of NATO countries to the potential entry of the Eastern European country into the bloc: the states of the alliance are only in favor of hypothetical membership of Ukraine in the organization. But when the country's accession to the alliance begins to become a reality, the countries will oppose such a development of events.
