Today, October 20, two votes are taking place in Moldova.

First, the citizens of the country elect the president.

Secondly, a referendum on the republic’s accession to the European Union was launched: Moldovans are asking whether it is worth supplementing the Constitution with a provision on the “irreversibility of the European course.”

Almost 2 thousand polling stations were opened in Moldova this morning.

Who is running for the post of President of Moldova

The list of candidates includes Maia Sandu, the current President of Moldova.

Sandu is the favorite in the vote, judging by the results of polls that took place in the country before the elections.

However, the current head of the Moldovan state has a serious competitor. We are talking about Alexander Stoianoglo, who is sure that the policy of the current president does not meet the interests of Moldova.

Stoianoglo advocates for the country to restore dialogue with Russia.

There are 10 more people running for the post of President of Moldova.

To win in the first round, a candidate must receive an absolute majority of votes. If no one manages to get more than 50%, then a second round will take place after 2 weeks.

The voting is scheduled to end at 21:00.
