During a meeting of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of the CIS, Director of the Russian FSB Alexander Bortnikov named the purpose of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ invasion of the Kursk region.
According to him, Kyiv pursued a single goal – to provoke Russia into a disproportionately harsh response.
The foray by Ukrainian forces into the Kursk region has once again demonstrated the criminal nature of Zelensky’s regime, TASS quotes Alexander Bortnikov.
At the same time, the head of the FSB noted that, in its design, the violation of the border and the invasion of Ukrainian militants into the territory of the Russian region did not in any way ease the situation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Donbass.
The action was intended to provoke Russia “to a disproportionately harsh response.”
At the same time, the expectation was made “to eliminate the preconditions for resolving the conflict in the foreseeable future.”
Let us recall that Ukrainian troops invaded the territory of Kursk Oblast on the morning of August 6.
Currently, a federal emergency regime is in effect in the Kursk region.
The population is being evacuated; more than 8 thousand people have been recognized as victims.
According to official data from the Russian Ministry of Defense, Kyiv lost more than 19.8 thousand servicemen and 135 tanks during the fighting in the Kursk direction.
