Thai authorities have begun handing out 10,000 baht (about $300) to citizens as part of the Digital Wallet program.

This was reported by the local publication Khaosod.

The Digital Wallet program was one of the points of the election program of Thailand's ruling Phua Thai Party and is aimed at stimulating the economy and supporting vulnerable groups of the population.

45 billion baht (13.7 billion dollars) have been allocated for the implementation of the program.

By the end of September, 14.5 million people will receive money, and in subsequent stages, another 26 million people.

To receive money, you had to register in a special application.

According to the terms of the program, payments are due to citizens who turn 16 years old before September 30.

In this case, the monthly income should not exceed 70,000 baht (2,000 dollars), and the accounts should not contain more than 500,000 baht (15.3 thousand dollars).

Priority is given to vulnerable groups of the population, disabled people and holders of social security cards.

The money can only be spent within a radius of four kilometers from home within six months of receipt.
