Shots were reportedly heard near a golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, where the politician was staying at the time.
US Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene described the incident as an attempt to take Trump's life.
She also reported that Trump is alive and well, reports the portal “TUT NOVOSTI”.
Shootout
Steven Cheung, the campaign communications director for the Republican, who has already survived one assassination attempt, said the shots were fired near where Trump was at the time.
According to the director, the candidate for the country's highest official post is safe.
The New York Post learned from a law enforcement source that the shooting occurred in the area of the golf club where Trump was at the time.
American media write that the shootout was carried out by two unknown citizens.
According to them, the Republican was “not in any danger,” and the area where the incident occurred is known for its high crime rate.
Secret service
Later, the politician's son Donald Trump Jr. reported that police found an AK-47 assault rifle at the scene and the suspect was detained.
The US Secret Service is investigating the incident and has confirmed that the presidential candidate is currently safe.
Earlier, an assassination attempt was made on Donald Trump on July 13, during his election campaign speech in Pennsylvania.
There was also shooting then. The media reported that a politician was shot in the ear, one of the spectators died, and two more people were wounded.
The Secret Service said the shooter had been eliminated. It was stated that he had managed to fire several shots in the direction of the stage.
According to the FBI, the perpetrator was 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.
