Orbán's peace tour

On July 1, Hungary began its six-month presidency of the European Union's highest political body, the European Council. The very next day, Orban set off on a peacekeeping tour.

First, the Hungarian prime minister visited Kyiv, where he proposed to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to consider a ceasefire. The Ukrainian leader responded by saying that there had been previous bad experiences.

The head of the Hungarian government then visited Russia and met with its president, Vladimir Putin.

For this, the Hungarian Prime Minister was criticized by the EU authorities. Orban called the criticism directed at him Brussels bureaucratic nonsense.

After Russia, the head of the Hungarian government visited China and held talks with its leader Xi Jinping.

The final stop on the peace tour was the United States, where Orban met with former US President and presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Following the tour, the Hungarian Prime Minister sent his proposals for resolving the conflict to the EU leaders.
