If you open any manuscript devoted to gardening and vegetable growing, you will see a recommendation to arrange the beds from north to south.
This option, according to the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, is classic.
As a result of this arrangement, the plants will be optimally and fully illuminated throughout the day.
This arrangement is especially relevant for shaded soils, soils with low relief and areas with damp soil.
However, it is also permissible to arrange beds with plants from east to west, however, only when the soil is dry and light.
In this case, the plantings will shade the space between the rows, and moisture will be retained in the soil.
For some crops (in particular, we are talking about bell peppers), it is acceptable to arrange the beds in the direction from west to east. This will create light partial shade, warmth and humidity, which are necessary for the plants.
Finally, when choosing a direction, take into account the slope of the site - if it is quite noticeable, the rows are made across the slope.
