In the southern regions, black currants should be treated against diseases and pests as early as February.

We'll tell you how to do it correctly.

Why and how to process currants in February

In February, black currants need to be treated because their buds open early.

They can start growing already at 4-6 degrees. In the southern regions this happens in March.

It is recommended to carry out the treatment in warm weather, the temperature should be above zero.

For the first treatment, it is best to use a weak (pale pink) solution of potassium permanganate.

It must be dissolved in hot water, the temperature should be about 70 degrees.

It is necessary to water the currants with a solution of potassium permanganate from a watering can with a sprayer.

An average bush requires 7-8 liters of solution, a large one requires 10 liters.

If there is still snow, cover the base of the bush with it after watering.

For the second treatment, which is carried out on young leaves, you should use a 3% solution of ferrous sulfate.
