Many gardeners know that eggshells are a valuable fertilizer.
However, few people know that it is not suitable for all plants.
Some crops start to get sick and produce smaller yields because of the eggshells.
We tell you which plants are not suitable for eggshell-based fertilizers.
What crops don't like eggshells
First, potatoes. Eggshells increase the calcium content of the soil, and potatoes do not like that.
Applying fertiliser from the shell will result in the formation of a crust on the tubers and a decrease in yield.
Secondly, tomatoes also do not like high calcium content in the soil.
Feeding with shells can lead to calcium chlorosis and growth retardation.
Thirdly, eggplants may lag in development due to the large amount of calcium in the soil.
Fourthly, legumes. They need slightly acidic soil, and the shell alkalizes it.
In addition, you should not feed cucumbers with shells, as this may cause problems with fruit set.
