Neighborhood in the garden and on the beds is not a fiction, but a fact. Some plants help each other grow, while others compete for moisture and nutrients.

Considering that the diversity of species in the plots of modern gardeners is ever wider, you need to have an idea of what is best to plant next to grapes.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", a scientist agronomist and landscape designer, told us what to plant next to the vine.

You should immediately exclude the proximity of grape vines to vegetable crops, but otherwise there is plenty to choose from.

Flowers

Roses suffer from the same diseases as grapes. However, roses get sick earlier.

That is, the bushes warn the gardener about the worsening situation and allow timely treatment.

Asters, phloxes and some other flowers with a shallow root system also grow well. Primrose is a good perennial.

Green manure

Green manure is usually sown before sowing vegetable crops.

But lupine growing together with grapes will saturate the soil with nitrogen.

Rye and oats, as well as rape, vetch, clover or legumes, enrich the soil with nutrients. But they need to be mown down in time so that they rot.

They say that you can leave celandine growing nearby, which, along with improving the quality of the soil, will retain moisture in the soil.

Berries

You can grow strawberries and wild strawberries nearby, but once the grapes grow, they can create unnecessary shade for them.

For reference

Grapes are a genus of plants in the grape family. It includes approximately 60-80 species, which are divided by origin into three groups - European-Asian, East Asian and North American.
