Every gardener should know that all pesticides carry a potential danger both for humans and for the environment.
According to the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, there is only one exception – biological pesticides.
This is the main reason why they should not be thoughtlessly bought and used without control.
To determine the degree of harmfulness of pesticides, carefully examine the packaging - it should indicate one of the four hazard classes to which the product belongs.
The first class consists of extremely dangerous substances. To understand: this group includes pure mercury and plutonium.
Highly hazardous substances such as arsenic, formaldehyde, and cyanides belong to the second class.
The third class is represented by moderately (medium) hazardous substances: phosphates and ethyl alcohol.
Finally, the last, fourth class consists of low-hazard sulfates, chlorides, ammonia, etc.
In private household plots, pesticides of the third and fourth hazard classes can be used, while the use of agents of the first and second classes is strictly limited and can be allowed only in cases of extreme necessity, and even then not in private household plots.
Let us repeat: the hazard class must be indicated on each package of the drug, but it is better to check this information on the Internet, using only specialized resources.
