For many, spring begins with tidying up the garden plot and bringing the trees into proper condition.

One of the mandatory actions is pruning fruit crops. But not everyone knows which trees are best left alone in the spring, even if it is about stimulating growth.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" - a scientist, agronomist and landscape designer, told which trees should not be pruned in the spring.

Despite the fact that most fruit trees are dormant or resting at this time, in some cases pruning can cause harm.

This primarily concerns stone fruit crops.

Let's start with the cherry tree. Its fruit buds form at the ends of the branches, and if you prune it, you can reduce the yield.

Peaches, apricots, and cherries also do not respond well to spring pruning.

They grow quickly and require regular pruning to help control the shape of the crown.

When to prune stone fruits

It is believed that the best time to tidy up these trees is in the fall.

In general, pruning at the end of the growing season is considered less harmful to plants.

In addition to stone fruit trees, it is recommended to prune tall apple trees in the fall.
