Growing strawberries is not such a simple process, otherwise how can we explain the fact that many gardeners make a lot of mistakes when doing this?
An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh listed the mistakes of gardeners that can negatively affect the strawberry harvest.
Wrong landing spot
Strawberries are a heat-loving plant, so for planting it is necessary to choose a sunny and wind-protected place. If strawberries grow in the shade, this can lead to the root system getting wet and freezing, and, as a result, to the death of the plant.

Insufficient watering during the harvest period
Strawberries require regular watering, especially during the ripening period. Lack of moisture can lead to the berries growing small and wilted. Therefore, try not to forget to monitor the soil moisture level and provide strawberries with enough water.
Improperly prepared landing site
Preparation of beds for strawberries should begin two years before planting, because, as you know, well-prepared soil is the key to healthy plants and a rich harvest.
Abundant foliage on young trees
The right solution is to leave only 3-5 of the healthiest leaves on young strawberry plants. Excessive foliage can slow down the growth and development of the bushes, as it will waste all the nutrients.
Seedlings with long roots
Before planting, experienced gardeners shorten the roots of seedlings. Long roots can begin to rot in the soil - do you think the bush will be able to survive in such conditions?
Lack of disinfection before planting
Before planting strawberry seedlings, it is important to disinfect them. This will help prevent diseases and protect plants from pests. Use special solutions or folk remedies to treat strawberries.
Different ages of bushes
You shouldn't plant young strawberry bushes next to already growing ones. Only plants of the same age should be in one bed.
Lack of hilling
Hilling is a vital procedure for strawberries. It helps retain moisture and protects the roots from overheating. Use organic materials for this purpose: sawdust or straw.
