Do you put cups with seedlings on the windowsill and think that this is enough?
The most common mistake is the wrong light. Incandescent lamps are not suitable - their spectrum is useless for plants.
Buy a phytolamp with pink-violet light, but hang it no higher than 20 cm above the seedlings.
And be sure to rotate the cups once a day so that the stems do not become warped.
Loosening and fertilizing
Here's a secret that few people know: never loosen the soil in cups!
The roots of seedlings are thinner than a hair, and any damage is fatal.
Instead, stick a few drinking straws into the soil to provide oxygen.
And stop feeding the seedlings every week!
Excessive fertilizer causes "fatness": plants grow foliage, but the roots remain weak. Apply fertilizer only after two true leaves appear.
Another mistake is deep planting
Plant tomato and pepper seeds at a depth of 0.5 cm, otherwise the sprouts will not break through.
And for petunias and lobelias, do not sprinkle them with soil at all - they germinate in the light.
And don't use universal soil! Each crop has its own composition.
For example, peppers like loose soil with sand, and cucumbers like soil with peat.
Remember that the health of seedlings depends not only on fertilizers and light, but also on the quality of the selected seeds, the period and conditions of their storage.
