Who doesn't want their garden to be decorated with different flowers and shrubs?
According to the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, there are practically no such people.
Today we suggest talking about tulips. In order for them to please the summer resident with their bloom next season, they need to be planted in the fall. It is at this stage that many plant growers make gross mistakes, because of which they cannot wait for the shoots to emerge in the spring.
Lateness
Don't rely on the date. The main reference point is the soil temperature. It should reach 10 degrees at a depth of 15 cm.
If the temperature is too low, the plants will not take root, and if you rush, the bulbs will sprout and die with the onset of frost.
Lowland
Rain and melt water that accumulates in lowlands can destroy tulip bulbs. Choose a high spot with sufficient sun for planting.
Unprepared soil
Preparing the soil takes about 2-3 weeks: during this time, the grower will have to dig up the bed, get rid of weeds and add compost and ash.
Fresh manure
Tulip beds should not be fertilized with fresh manure, as it can burn the fragile root system of plants. This type of fertilizer also attracts pests, so it is better to replace it with compost.
