Any summer resident who visits a specialized store or market will be pleasantly shocked by the abundance of seedlings presented here.
True, such a wide range has a significant downside, and it is related to the difficulty of choosing.
An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh tried to make this task easier and told what is better to buy – seedlings from domestic producers or imported from abroad.
Vegetable seedlings
If you have come for seedlings of tomatoes, cucumbers and other vegetables, then the choice is obvious: buy them from local producers.
The whole point is that those varieties that show good results in, for example, Holland, Germany or Poland, are not very well suited to our climate.

But from local producers you will find only proven varieties that they have tried on themselves.
This rule applies both to seedlings for open ground and to those that are planned to be grown in a greenhouse.
Fruit trees and shrubs
And again: the best choice will be domestically produced fruit and berry trees. But seedlings brought from countries with a similar climate are also acceptable.
Ornamental plants
But if we are talking about decorative and exotic plants, then you can take a closer look at imported plants.
An example is the exotic wisteria. It is imported to us only from Holland and Germany, but the varieties are highly resistant and can withstand even severe frost.
