As a rule, gardeners (both experienced and novice) begin replanting indoor plants with the onset of spring.
And this is correct, says Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication BelNovosti, an agronomist and landscape designer, since in winter this procedure should be carried out only in exceptional cases due to the fact that during this period the amount of sunlight decreases and plant growth slows down.
As a result of winter transplantation, it is difficult for “green pets” to recover from the stress.
When transplantation is prohibited
Winter transplantation is completely prohibited for delicate and slow-growing plants, as well as for flowering indoor plants.
It is also worth postponing the transplantation of new plants until better times, since the flower needs time to acclimatize.
Finally, don’t even think about changing the pot of plants that go into a dormant state for the winter – again, so as not to cause them incurable stress.
When can you transplant?
Transplantation becomes possible only if it will bring much more benefit to the plant than harm.
We are talking, first of all, about sick plants, as well as about flowers with a branched root system that have outgrown their pot.
