Many summer residents grow raspberries and currants on their plots.
With proper care, these plants delight their owners with good harvests, rich in juicy, tasty berries.
But it is possible to increase the yield of these crops even more – 10 times – using one method.
The only caveat is that its effectiveness can be assessed over several years.
Raspberry
To significantly increase its yield at the stage of growth of young shoots, you need to pinch off the top bud of shoots that have risen to 30 centimeters.
This procedure must be carried out strictly on June 30th every year.
The result of the “operation” will be that by autumn, a future fruit-bearing cluster for the next year will grow from each bud at the base of the leaf.
And after a year you will be able to record the first results of the work done.
Currant
In spring or summer, you need to pinch off the top growth bud of the shoot if it has grown by 20 centimeters.
In the spring of the following year, we repeat the action, but this time on a shoot 10 centimeters high.
By the end of the season, new shoots will grow from the buds on these branches.
In the third year after the first “special operation”, the shoots will produce their first – abundant – harvests.
At the same time, the currant berries will become larger - approximately 1.5 times larger than “normal” ones.
It is worth noting that in the future, in the years following the receipt of the first “renewed” currant harvests, such intensive pruning will no longer be required.
