The food of cockchafers is plant roots and root crops - perhaps this is a good enough reason not to put off the fight against this pest for a long time.
Not only bioinsecticides and chemical preparations have proven themselves to be effective in the fight against May beetles, but also folk remedies, which will be discussed below.
Onion peel infusion
To prepare a poisonous composition for cockchafer larvae, you will need to collect a third of a bucket of onion peel.
Fill the raw materials with water at a temperature of 60-70 degrees and leave for 24 hours under a closed lid.
When the time is up, strain the infusion, dilute with water in a 1 to 1 ratio and pour it over the soil. Since May beetles live in the upper layers, make sure that the soil is soaked to a depth of 20 cm.
Infusion of mustard powder
The infusion is prepared from 200 g of mustard powder, which is supposed to be poured with hot water and infused for a couple of days, after covering the container with a lid.
Then the volume of liquid is brought up to 20 liters and the soil is watered with the mustard powder infusion.
Infusion of walnut leaves
To make an infusion based on walnut leaves, you need to pour 300-400 g of leaves with a bucket of water. It should be warm.
Wait a day, then strain the solution and, as in the previous options, use it to water the soil.
Ammonia solution
This solution consists of only two ingredients: 20 ml of ammonia and a bucket of water. The resulting composition is used for watering.
