Many people grow various plants in their apartments, which delight us with their fruits even in winter.
Most often, tomatoes are “registered” on windowsills and balconies.
How to get a good harvest from them, abundant in tasty, juicy, aromatic fruits?
A few simple rules, if followed when caring for tomatoes at home, will ensure the desired result.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist and landscape designer, spoke about what exactly should be done.
First of all, it is worth knowing that seedlings are planted between January 25 and February 10.
However, this is relevant for those plants that are in a room or on a glazed loggia.
If tomatoes are located on an open balcony, then “sowing” takes place from February 15 to March 5.
As for the soil, for “apartment tomatoes” a mixture of humus, peat and turf soil is needed (in equal proportions).
Pots with tomatoes should be placed on the sunny side or a phytolamp should be used.
Another piece of advice is related to pollination of tomato flowers. The wind does this for them.
Therefore, if the plant is in a room or on a glazed balcony, the blossoming buds need to be shaken so that the pollen gets on the pistil.
