There are many reasons why blossom end rot can affect a crop.

As a rule, the disease attacks tomato beds as a result of an excess or lack of nitrogen and potassium fertilizers.

Sometimes blossom end rot is caused by very saline soil, which often occurs in sandy soils that are rarely watered.

It can be triggered by constant changes in weather, sometimes hot, sometimes cold.

Also, be prepared to face the disease if the soil does not dry out or, conversely, there is almost no watering.

The disease can be recognized by the appearance of a gray or brown spot on the tip of the fruit.

But sometimes there are no external signs, and you will only realize that a tomato has blossom-end rot when you cut it open and see that it is damaged inside.

Tomatoes affected by blossom-end rot should not be eaten, which is why it is important to take immediate steps to eliminate it.

First of all, get rid of the affected tomatoes.

To protect the remaining ones, apply foliar feeding.

  • 30 g of potassium chloride should be diluted in 10 liters of water
  • 5 g of calcium nitrate should be added to 1 liter of water
  • 5 spoons of superphosphate must be diluted in 1 liter of warm water and left for 24 hours. 200 ml of solution and 20 g of nitrogen fertilizer must be dissolved in 10 liters of water.

This fertilizer nourishes tomatoes and prevents the spread of disease.
